PLANNING: PRODUCTION COMPANY IDENT

My group and I have formed a production company for our film and we came up with the name of the production company to be Blacklight productions. My group came up with the idea that the production company title should be in black and then have a bright light making the title stand out. Below shows what we came up with for the final trailer:

From the screenshot above it shows a black background with a fading bright light submerging into the centre of the frame, getting darker and darker. We went with the earth as the spherical shape because it was the best idea we could think of at the time and it would be more interesting showing the earth rotating slowly as it gives more life in the short production scene within the trailer.

We also went with a dark themed production ident because it fits like a glove for the genre of the film. There is a lot of suspense and enigma portrayed and it sets the scene for the audience to get a feel of what the film is going to be all about.

This is quite a fitting theme with trailers and I noticed this in particular with the film Taken.

The start of the film is upbeat and uplifting and as soon as the production company logo appears, the mood shifts into a quick succession of a black screen phasing in and out of the screen. This is what we are trying to achieve with our trailer and I feel that this is a cleverly improvised way of setting the tone for the rest of the trailer.
