RESEARCH: POSTER CODES AND CONVENTIONS

I analysed the movie poster of The Twilight Saga in order to investigate the genre codes and conventions It gives the information of:

the casting
the costume designer
the music
the music supervisor
the visual effects
the executive producer
the producer
the director
the editor
the production designer
the director of photography
the co-producer

My group and I decided to use the same people's names for the cast and crew.

The poster will also require at the bottom the social networks used to promote the film. I created a folder with the social networks logo on one of the apple computers in the media room so when I come to make my poster, I can drag the logos for the social networks onto my indesign poster. This is so the audience can check the social networks to get more information about the film and get exclusive content.  I am currently working on a website for the film, which is where most of the information will be for the film,  which is going to be called www.aquestionofidentity.com and this will be placed at the bottom of the poster.

PLANNING: INDESIGN MOVIE POSTER

On Friday of last week, I was taught how to use a programme called InDesign for when we finalise our ideas and prepare to make our own individual posters. Below shows my experimentation of using the various tools in Indesign to familiarise myself with the software. My group and I are going to make individual posters in InDesign. Having read the last two Examiner's Reports to centres, I am pleased to be using their recommended choice of software in InDesign which is industry standard.

From what I learned with movie posters in general, they all contain the title of the film in large and bold text at the top of the poster, followed by the main characters in the centre frame where most of the attention is displayed. The information of the cast and crew is at the bottom.

I also worked on a word document and I looked at the movie poster of "The Twilight saga" and I looked at the various information it gives. It gives the information of:

the casting
the costume designer
the music
the music supervisor
the visual effects
the executive producer
the producer
the director
the editor
the production designer
the director of photography
the co-producer

PLANNING: LOCATION RECCE RE-FILMING THE GRAVEYARD SCENE

Last week my group and I decided to re-film the graveyard scene due to technical issues. The idea was to portray the right angles to represent the right emotions in order to engage with the audience. At the scene where I kneel down in front of the gravestone, our primary focus was to use a close up shot which would show this and also start to introduce the main characters in the movie.

This shot was taken by Kate Bradford where we revisited St George's Church Cemetery in Esher, Surrey.  The next stage was to find the right spot to film this scene in order to capture the right feel and concept of the storyline. We came across an area where the stage design fitted correctly with what we were looking for as you can see in the image above. We wanted a deeper meaning with the use of these objects to make the trailer more interesting and have more variety to explore the different camera angles to create the right sense of feeling for our audience.

My group member Kate created a YouTube account to show the process of filming behind the scenes. Below will have a link to her channel.
